It’s been a busy start to 2024 for Jackpocket – the leading lottery app in the United States.

The company not only launched Jackpocket Casino in New Jersey, further expanding its footprint; Jackpocket also struck a major acquisition deal with DraftKings that has seismic implications for digital lottery and iGaming industries.

Jackpocket Casino Launch

January 31st saw New Jersey-based Jackpocket debut an exciting new offering – titlely Jackpocket Casino. The launch, facilitated through a partnership with Caesars Interactive Gaming New Jersey, marks Jackpocket’s maiden voyage into the online casino space, a US lottery platform first.

Jackpocket Casino certainly hits the ground running in The Garden State, boasting a robust selection of online casino games. For lovers of traditional table games to slot enthusiasts, there is something on offer for everyone, with some titles unique to Jackpocket’s brand.

“Today we are proud to partner with Caesars Interactive Entertainment to introduce Jackpocket Casino, a top-of-line mobile casino that is the first of its kind for US lottery platforms,” said Jackpocket CEO Peter Sullivan. “This launch immediately expands Jackpocket’s entertainment offerings in New Jersey and will do the same for fans in other markets in the future.”

Currently, Jackpocket’s Casino platform is available in New Jersey, where players have access to an extensive library of casino games – including some fan favorites, some titles unique to Jackpocket, and an ability for New Jersey players to participate in Jackpocket Casino games through the existing Jackpocket Lottery app platform. The app seamlessly delivers a world of casino games directly to New Jersey players, making it simple for them to jump from state-authorized casino games, and back again, across any device.

DraftKings Acquires Jackpocket

Mid-February 2024 brought another game-changing announcement, as Jackpocket found itself on the acquisition block in a major way from top gaming operator DraftKings Inc. The transaction carries an approximate value of $750 million through a cash and DraftKings stock deal, ultimately validating the company’s substantial investment in the future of digital lottery services and iGaming. This strategic acquisition enables DraftKings to position Jackpocket under its robust portfolio, providing a strong foundation to capitalize on the burgeoning U.S. lottery market while supplementing its entrenched sportsbook and iGaming status.“DraftKings will be able to grow our OSB and iGaming database much more efficiently in the coming years and Jackpocket’s proven technology and established user base will greatly enhance our market position,” DraftKings CEO Jason Robins explained. The transaction should provide substantial revenue and EBITDA accretion for DraftKings by as soon as 2026 and 2028, respectively, illustrating the substantial strategic and financial nature of the merger that is poised to amplify DraftKings with a strong position in the market that will provide a significant opportunity to enrich customer experiences and introduce an array of novel, differentiated products. Under terms of the agreement, Jackpocket’s current shareholders will receive a combination of cash and shares of DraftKings’ Class A common stock, ensuring the stock’s value does not fall below certain agreed-upon levels, as their careful balance in crafting the deal serves as a fitting testament to both parties’ mutual dedication in creating a vast, mutually lucrative partnership that will be built around a shared vision and strategic approach.

Looking To The Future

These strategic maneuvers by both Jackpocket and DraftKings are not just isolated business moves but reflect a broader industry evolution toward integrated digital entertainment solutions. This integration of leading, modern technological advancements, paired with customer-centric service offerings, illustrates a dynamic shift among how consumers engage with gaming and entertainment platforms.
